Enter the Parrot...

So. A little trepidatious about this bandwagon-jumping. Calls to mind the end of that underrated Christian Slater flick "Pump Up The Volume," where our hero is dragged off having just delivered a rousing address to the stoned masses encouraging them to hijack the pirate radio airwaves: The said masses' uninspiring attempts to do so then lead us sonically to the closing credits, although pretty much every viewer would likely prefer a final glimpse of Christian, shirt off, specs on. Yeah, so do you see where I am going here? I'm taking the plunge, hoping to make a splash more significant that one of those pathetic little voices...

Enter Stage Left: Yet another certain-aged, humorous and honest recanting of Strife, the Universe and Everything live from the global hotspot which I call, with some irony, "home". I remain realistic. Which basically means that I hold comfortingly little expectation that anyone will bother to read my musings. And while the chosen title of the New Parrot Blog signifies more than a passing nod to the dear departed Monsieur Mercury, it also dignifies my Official Weirdo Status (both ascribed and acquired) which almost 30 years on I still seem to be "enjoying" within the various communities wherein I function at large.

And a final note re the name. Aside from the chocolate overtones, (any passing thru UK "readers" will understand) it signifies nothing deep or overtly socio-political: PurpleParrot has simply been an online alias of mine for some time, and one which has without fail served to holler against my natural reticence. So, I'll start as I mean to go on. Welcome to the melee which is my life; a full and frantic balancing act of many different identities in a crazy, crazy place. Whatever nuggets I have to offer in the future, I'll be squawking them from the rooftops. This, my friends, is a promise!

hey purpleparrot! when i first started out on blogger, i used the dark polka dotty template too(which, apart from this phrase-"I hold comfortingly little expectation that anyone will bother to read my musings." is what inspired me to leave you a little comment) here's a quote for you: "The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is at all comprehensible." - albert einstien.

all the best in whatever you do :)
