Lost for Words
So many dreadful, dreadful things happened this weekend across our poor planet that blogging takes on a whole new angle of narcissistic pointlessness in my little universe.
It all seems to begin and end with the wreckage that currently is South-East Asia, and nature reminding us that despite our illusions of grandeur and civilisation, we are all its ultimate mercy. Too horrifying to even begin to write about: I'm not even managing to read about it without crying. A good friend's mother who had been ill for a long time passed away this weekend, and my thoughts are with him. My own mother, not as healthy as she has been, hurt herself in a nasty fall, resulting in much long-distance panic which only abated once she had left the operating theatre. And this weekend of tension and tragedy climaxed poignantly at an incredible memorial service for a former classmate, draining all those present beyond any expectation while oddly providing us with some hope.
And I am reminded that when there is so much negativity in the air, small niceties remain chocolate for the soul. And thankfully there are plenty of those around right now. Otherwise how else would we get through these dark days?
