High Five!
Heard the one about the immigrants from England, Ethiopia and Morocco screaming at each other in a Jerusalem Parking Lot?
So began the day upon which I can officially declare 5 years of residence in this crazy place. It was almost heartwarming: On 13.01.00 I was not particularly well-versed in Israeli Arguing Techniques TM and would not have stood a chance of winning any fights over parking spaces.
Anyway, ironically I am marking this auspicious occasion on the other side of the city (will this still be Israel in 5 years time?) chatting to a Palestinian colleague about the nature of displacement and dual identity. How very post-modern/dafka/ridiculous.
Fear not- I won't be pontificating any further about the deeper resonances of immigration and personal growth in such a tense, and intense, environment. Time to have some fun instead.
To follow: Five Top 5s! : One for each year that I resisted the temptation to up sticks and return to the Land of Hope and Glory.

Oh Dear. So sorry I removed your comments, Anonymous and Dark Horse! This is the kind of damage one can do if one stays up to watch the Golden Globes live. I have learned my lesson.
