Ad Nauseam
Well I clearly chose a great day to return from the (relative) tranquility of Great Britain! Although it is lovely to be granted a few hours off in the middle of the week- its not every morning that I can blog in my pyjamas while gorging on the remains of the English choc and biccies stash that haven't been earmarked for my various places of employment/friends. And even the "not-for-me" pile is at risk, lets be honest: while many of my colleagues beg for little pieces of imported heaven, equal numbers always complain that Cadbury's "isn't as good" as local tryers Cow Chocolate. (Which, granted, has made commendable progress over the past few years, but still remains light years behind the purple empire.) So to my mind such whinging entirely justifies the "get-one-free" box of Heroes remaining in the hands of a loving hostess who will treat it with the respect and integrity it deserves. She says, munching on her 11th one in as many seconds.
So my trip was great, and various ensuing anecdotes will make their way onto this page in time. But today is Israeli Election Day and so I'm throwing in my two shekels along with the rest of the Israeli-based blogosphere. Tellingly, almost nobody I've spoken to over the last 24 hours had yet decided which of the circus acts they would be voting for. Bodes well, hey! I mean , its only our very future in the balance. And that of our neighbouring nation. And, while we're at it, general global stability, if the disproportionate amount of coverage we get on international news services is anything to go by.
So I'm going to have lunch with visiting friends, eat ice-cream, work half a day in the half of the city that doesn't care about the outcome of these elections, that sort of thing. I'll get to the polls, and deal with the reality when it hits. Meanwhile I'm going to enjoy these last few despair/despondency-free hours, dammit! And I suggest that everyone else does the same. Slightly Mad encourages you to eat your chocolate responsibly.

Didn't know you'd gone, but welcome back!
Hope the old folk (and the young) were all well.
Get out there and vote!
I voted for the only honest man in the campaign. That is why he hasn't a cat in hell's chance of getting in and in fact will probably lose his deposit.
Ain't democracy grand?

Welcome Back!
Most people I spoke to had a vauge idea, but few had a concrete plan. Many of my friends tell of standing the polling booth and make a last minute choice.
Kol Hakavod for going out there to cast your vote.

Know that "not for me" pile very well. Usually means I end up giving lame reasons for suddenly hating somebody in order to keep 'old of it...

Welcome back, you!
Um, what the heck are biccies? I'm assuming some sort of food item?
I must admit that my favorite chocolate will always be Hershey's. Israelis think I'm nuts (hey, the kind with almonds IS my favorite) but I like the earthier, less "fancy" taste. Ooh, I could go for a bagful of Kisses right now....

My parents live within walking distance of a Cadburys outlet!
My current stash is: with mint, with orange, with Crunchy bits and just plain Cadbury's. There were Curly Wurly's and Caramacs for the kids and Cadbury's Caramel but that is finished. I also have some McVities Digestives with Chocolate Orange that I save for special days.
I tried the Elite Sachlab (my in laws sent some over) but was a bit disappointed. They put in Coconut! Why?
American person: biccies are biscuits, cookies to you.

WBM- Thanks for the link.
Jalemap- Grand indeed. I think we're all going to be permanently disappointed :S (And off topic, hope you read the Screams of a Tourguide" parody)
A- As you know, I am equally cursed: Less said about that the better!
IYWI- Nothing like excercising the old democratic right, hey: shame it means bugger all...
Kasamba- It was such a short and hectic trip, I hardly had time to think! Looking forward to the next one :)
GGreen- as am I. Was too short...
AS- I came up with "My tesco bag got stolen" last time. Barrel Scraping or wot?!
RR- Lisoosh told you what biccies are: might just be a northern thing, now I think about it. And for the record, I too think you are nuts- with the exception of the Cookies and Creme one which is fantastic, I can't abide the taste of Hersheys- its even been something of a deal breaker with certain Americans! But I won't judge you ;-)
Nush- Well, I followed your advice! And I'm always happy to carry on Schnorrering from your neverending supplies!
Lisoosh- oh, I'm sorry about the Sahlab... I feel almost responsible for the disappointment! Oh well at least you have that fantastic Cadburys with Crunchie Pieces to console you. It doesn't get any better. And before your kids ate them, did you notice how very SMALL Curly Wurlys are now?? Criminal!

And I agree, the cow still has a ways to go.

Lisoosh- I do remember... or maybe it was because we were smaller?! But seriously, chocolate wise, everything seems to not only have shrunk but doubled in price.
Aliza- will be happy to oblige if you need help finishing those prior to Pesach!
B- well hello! I will indeed be there.
