Saved by the MEME
Thanks to the ever chipper Mr. Anglosaxy, the serious political post I was planning can simmer a little longer. Yes, it's time for another MEME- for it has been a while (at least 6 posts) and this one is all about... Blogging! How very original. Here goes...
Do you like the look and the contents of your blog?
Contents, well I write it, so I try. Look? One of Blogger’s finest, I’ve done nothing to it at all except learned a little HTML. So, no complaints. (Although- not sure how my 17-year-old self would feel about my having a pink blog, being as she refused to wear any colour but black for 3 years, but the 30-year-old thinks it is amusing.)
Does your family know about your blog?
Some of them do: Some of them even read it (hello, family members!) while some of them still don’t know how to turn on a computer.
Can you tell your friends about your blog? Do you consider it a private thing?
For a long time it was only 3 loyal friends (you know who you are) and a bloke in Germany reading this blog. And two of the friends are married to each other, so no wonder I never had any hits, back in the old days! But now, we’ve gone truly global. And it isn’t a “private” blog at all: Just certain elements remain private, and there’s the silly alias. (Which I have explained here- I’m very considerate, me.)
Do you just read the blogs of those who comment on your blog? Or do you try to discover new blogs?
I’ll always go for a recipro-peek if someone is nice enough to leave me a comment. Aside from that method, I don’t devote much time to discovering new blogs, especially as with 4 jobs there’s not even enough time to catch up with the ones in the sidebar!
Did your blog positively affect your mind? Give an example.
Without a doubt- receiving positive feedback from so many commenters from across the region and the world is true tonic indeed on a Bad News Day.
What does the number of visitors to your blog mean? Do you use a traffic counter?
I do have one, I check it about once a week, it tells me that around 200 people click on every day, and it is great fun seeing what brings people here. The google searches are particularly hilarious: Of late we’ve had “nude in the bath”, “Gazza shaped giant chocolate easter egg”, “Wayne Rooney medical problems” and “Kvish 6 terrible”
Do you imagine what other bloggers look like?
All I can say is, the few I’ve actually managed to meet round these parts have looked nothing like I imagined they would!
Do you think blogging has any real benefit?
Oh, who cares! It’s fun and interesting and helps me understand the world better. ‘K?
Do you think that the blogsphere is a stand alone community separated from the real world?
Not at all, it fits nicely in to the real world and enhances it. And anyway, if there wasn’t a real world, what exactly would people write about?
Do some political blogs scare you? Do you avoid them?
The extreme ones do, so I don’t give them the time of day unless I desperately need to see what’s being said by the nutjobs (or I want to make myself feel nauseous). However, Political Blogs written by intelligent people who engage in critical debate without resorting to mudslinging and name calling can be real treats ,and even vaguely life-affirming.
Do you think that criticizing your blog is useful?
I don’t understand the question. Anyway, this is a sodding MEME, not A-Level English!
Have you ever thought about what would happen to your blog if you died?
Ok, so, you know how some girls plan their weddings at an early age? - so, I’ve planned my funeral. I know what music will be playing, readings, everything. So it is safe to assume that in the event of my untimely demise, there’ll be some sort of auto-obituary appearing in pink, right here.
Which blogger has had the greatest impression on you?
There are several outstanding, thought-provoking and magnificent bloggers I could cite, all over the region and the world who have and continue to have a great impression on me. And the list constantly evolves.
Which blogger do you think is the most similar to you?
Hmm… Everyone, yet noone? I don’t tend to read writers I can’t relate to on some level, whether it is personal/geographical circumstance, political/humanitarian/social action beliefs, love of chocolate, sense of humour, taste in music or all of the above…
Name a song you want to listen to?
Where did this question come from?! Right now? Erm, well, now because of a few questions back I'm stuck on the music for my funeral, so let's have Moments of Pleasure by Kate Bush. Damn, spoiled the surprise!

I have to say that I'm having fun with these MEMEs. I'm going to actually tag people this time. And I can't believe that you get SO much traffic, 200/day, wow. I get more like 20.

Liza- No escape, no! And yes, well, technically 3.5. Will explain all imminently(hopefully v soon)
Jack- Praise indeed!
Karma- I've since been informed (by half of the aformentioned wonderful couple) that 200 people *don't* actually click each day, it's more like 80-90 (although it did rise to such numbers during the war when all sorts of sites were linking here) so don't be too jealous!
IYWI- Glad you got the joke! Shavua Tov.
Kasamba- Only in the funeral planning arena ;-) Trust me!
DCDI- Damn! Oh well, welcome back anyway!

Jack- You said it!
Karma- so thanks to you, I've only JUST realised what my friends blog "32 and then some" is based on. Duh.
MCA- well, if I know there is an audience... And yes, I think so too. Many meanings to that song.
